The RedSox win the World Series!

Good news for Sox fans (many of whom reside right here in Ft. Myers and SW Florida – the Red Sox Spring Training home), after going so long without one win they now have two in the last four years.

And in related news, it turns out that Hillary has actually always been a Red Sox fan, forced to cheer them on in secret due to her husbands affection for the Yankees. (That whole “I’ve always been a Yankees fan” thing was just for Bill’s sake, you see.) To prove her affection for the famed Bean-town team, she points to the fact that she named her beloved cat ‘Socks’ after the team – though she had to spell it that way to throw off suspicion!

Asked for a comment on this sudden shift of allegiance Mrs. Clinton commented “How about those Patriots? You know, I’ve always been a….”

Vermin!

This is why we cannot put the Democrat foxes in charge of the United States hen house!

The nonbinding, largely symbolic resolution passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee last week, despite strong opposition from the White House. It infuriated NATO ally Turkey, which hinted it might halt logistic support to U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan if the bill passes.

Largely symbolic? TOTALLY symbolic, and would result in delays getting our troops the Beans, Bullets, and Blankets they need to continue winning this war. And if the Turks really decided to flex their political muscles and prevent all transit across their territory (which they, as a sovereign nation, have every right to do), then the flights taking our wounded soldiers to advanced medical treatment centers at US bases in Germany and England will need to take a less direct route, resulting in longer flights and possibly higher mortality rates.

So, in what kind of world do we live in where the Speaker of the US House of Representitives pushes symbolic legislation that would alienate one of our most vital war allies and could potentially end up costing hundreds of millions $ more to get our troops the food and equipment they need and maybe even the lives of some of our wounded? Unfortunately, in a world where symbolism is more important than substance and, to the Liberal Socialists currently in positions of power, a world where the ends justify the means. It is painfully clear that in this case (as in most with these Stalinists), the aquisition of more power is worth any price.

Think I’m wrong? Think I’m over the top calling these people Stalinists and Liberal Socialists? Well try this new pants-suit on for size…

“Many of you are well enough off that … the tax cuts may have helped you,” Sen. Hillary Clinton said last week, according to the Associated Press. “We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Looks like a familiar uniform, doesn’t it?

We cannot let these jackals have the keys to the kingdom, or like the foxes in the hen house, they will gorge themselves on those they are supposed to protect.

What we all should have learned from Media Matters

After listening to the media reaction surrounding the phony soldiers kerfuffle, I think I have actually learned something from Media Matters. I’ve learned that words like context and intent and beliefs are either not important, or have an entirely different meaning from what I have always believed.

I was listening live (via the Internet) to Rush’s show last week when the call and comments that began this kerfuffle was aired. The funny thing is that, at the time, because I had heard the entire context of the exchange, I believed that I understood the intent of Rush’s use of the term phony soldiers, based on the entirety of his comments and my prior knowledge of the beliefs I know him to hold.

Silly me… I should have known better!

Those folks at Media matters have really taught me a lesson. The context of this conversation is malleable, the intent of the participants is irrelevant, and the beliefs being expressed are evil, and if you do not believe that you are an idiot worthy of ridicule and scorn.

Oh, how I have learned!

Using the same techniques the people at Media Matters are teaching us all to use, I have found something so egregious and hateful that it simply must be exposed! This time it comes from another right-wing hack named James Taranto in his Best of the Web Today column from yesterday (first story) regarding Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Here’s what Mr. Taranto wrote…

We know Justice Thomas, having met him in 1993;… We have always found him to be …avuncular.
Avuncular? AVUNCULAR!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! Right there! In print! What a racist thing to say! It’s so obvious* that it practically screams for the Democratic leadership in the House and Senate to take immediate action by censuring Mr. Taranto and voting to close down the paper that allowed him to spew such a hate filled diatribe! We’re all in favor of free speech, but this kind of speech just cannot be tolerated!!
