Kerry no hero in eyes of Vietnam-era veteran

I strongly suggest this piece by Christopher Ward as "Recommended Reading".

I stand corrected - Bush left six months early.

"asked for and received an early discharge......... so he could continue those efforts."

So, both Bush and Kerry asked for and received early discharge so that they could prepare for their futures; too bad Kerry chose to use his time to learn how to hurt the military, while Bush spent his preparing to become President.

Actually, I think Bush's contract period was over, so he didn't leave early. He was a graduate of Yale '68, so leaving in May '72 would be right on time for a standard 4-year contract.

Correction noted. Bush said on Meet The Press, (2/8/04) that he requested, and was granted an early out so he could attend Harvard Business School that fall.
