Lead, Don't Divide
I strongly suggest this piece by John Kerry (Wall Street Journal) as "Recommended Reading".

Here's a good time to point something out. Sometimes, we'll put some comment on our view of an article we've posted under "What we've read" in a field that's not viewed on the main page. To see it, you've got to look at the comments.
The wink-and-a-nod I use above is a reference to the Wall Stree Journal's habit of printing an op-ed by a famous person exactly when they'd least like to see it. When they do this, it's usually because what they are printing is a speech on the public record. This is exactly what happened here - John Kerry once spoke on the floor of the Senate asking that service (or lack thereof) during the Vietnam war not be used as a political device during a presidential campaign. Since it's on the public record, the Journal can reprint it, slap Kerry's name on it, and call it an op-ed... and there's not much Kerry can do, now that he's in a presidential campaign and wants us to know that he served in Vietnam. (That's not widely known. ;) )
