Wouldn't it be interesting to hold the debates on radio, no cameras? Or, maybe the internet? Listening and reading, lost art?

A caller to today's edition of the Rush Limbaugh Show (Roger Hedgecock guest hosting) crystallized an issue that has been bothering me, and no doubt, a lot of you, with a short, easily recalled phrase. The issue is the Democrat's repeated charge that Saddam Hussein did not attack us on 9/11, so the invasion of Iraq was not the right fight. The quote that excited my neurons:
We are fighting a war on terror, not a war on 9/11
To me, that, succinctly, expresses the point that John Kerry et al are missing (read: conveniently ignoring).

At the time that John Kerry claims to have been in Cambodia, our astronauts were orbiting the moon for the first time. December 1968 ended a tumultuous year; I rate their contribution greater than Kerry's. This past weekend I watched an HBO series about our journeys to the moon, at the end of the segment about Apollo 8 there was scene with Mission Control on Earth reading a telegram to the crew in space, it was from a Mrs Pringle, and simply read, "You saved 1968". We had lost MLK, RFK, Vietnam was getting ugly, and Americans were feeling the weight of it all; their mission was a bright spot confirming the goodness of man, and Lord did we need something good to happen.
As they flew around our satellite they recited from Genesis
In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth. And the Earth was without Form and Void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said: Let there be Light, and there was light. And God saw the light, and it was good.
We lost one of the original Mercury astronauts this week. Godspeed Gordo.

A check of our archives shows that I began my TBR association on 9/29/03, just over a year ago. Happy birthday to me! My experience as a blogger has been extremely rewarding; educational, challenging, thought-provoking, ego-boosting, and a great form of distraction when college basketball is not in season. Thanks to Chris for inviting, and tolerating me. Thanks to Steve for not dissuading Chris from inviting and tolerating me. And a special thanks to all who bother to read my ramblings.
