Megan's Law
We awake this morning to the sad news that little Jessica Lunsford is dead. The sex offender living in her neighborhood, and recently apprehended in Georgia, has admitted to kidnapping and killing her.
On Fox News this morning Craig Mitnick (sp?) credits Megan's Law, which requires all sex offenders to register, with the apprehension of this sick creature. Megan's Law also requires that you and I have access to that list of registrants, so that we can know if a sex offender lives nearby.
Here is a list of state by state sex offender registries. I strongly recommend that each of you go to the site for your area and discover if there are any such persons living near your home. Go right now, don't waste one more precious second reading this, GO now!
Now that this animal has admitted to the crime, I ask, why should there be a lengthy legal process to bring him to justice? Get him into a courtroom, assign him a public defender, follow procedure and get it over. He has confessed, case closed.
But, no, it will drag on for months or years. Time which, if it must be so, should be spent accumlating confessions from the sicko; perhaps he has other stories to tell, which may give other parents, if not their children back, the comfort of knowing their fate.
When his usefullness is done, let him never darken our doors again.
