On the same day the feeding tube is removed from Terri Schindler-Schiavo, beginning the process of starving her to death, comes news that a Florida man was arrested [registration required] for not feeding his cattle.

A 47-year-old self-described "fourth generation cowman" who said he ran into some financial problems and couldn't afford to buy feed for his livestock was charged with 120 counts of animal cruelty, authorities say.

Michael Lee Swails of 17180 Katydid Lane, Immokalee, was arrested on a warrant Thursday in connection with the discovery of some dead and some severely malnourished cows in Immokalee last year.

Perhaps, in his defense, Mr. Swail should have contended that the cows had stated that they would not wish to live if they had to be kept alive artificially.
