How Many Years Must The People Wait For Kerry To Keep His Pledge?
The answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind. Still.
Tommorow second term President, George W. Bush, will deliver the State of the Union address to Congress. One condition of our state he likely won't mention is that we remain in a state of suspense awaiting review of John Kerry's military records. A year has passed since his opponent in the 2004 Presidential race, John F'n. Kerry, pledged to release all of his military records for public review, and consequent to Kerry's failure to produce, America has been in a state of suspense, awaiting Kerry's action.
Sure Kerry did sign the form 180, but only for review by his hometown newspaper which was restricted to review only and no reproduction of the records was allowed. Certainly not a source which America trusts to provide an unvarnished retelling of the records. Hardly what America was promised.
So, the clock continues to tick, one year and counting. Kerry's one-man filibuster of the truth. And we continue to call on the dude to keep his word; sign the SF 180 Senator Kerry. And this time let everyone see what your records show.
Kerry has dreams of running again for President. His candidacy will be dogged by this failed promise. He has failed to keep his word, and failed to show the Swiftees to be the liars he claims them to be. Maybe he can't do the latter even by doing the former. Perhaps, being the mediocre student he was, contrary to his intellectual image, perhaps Kerry just doesn't understand the meaning of the word promise.

What does it matter about Senator Kerry's war record. whether he spent four years in combat or four minutes, a bullet is a bullet for those of us how have witnessed combat. Perhaps you guy's have seen the movie Saving Private Ryan. Veterans have lost their lives in the first few seconds of combat. But you guy's wouldn't know anything about combat. As a veteran myself, I think its reprehensible that other veterans would join along with those with an Ax to grind. May be you should focus your attention on those in the current administration who have never served. Let's look at their record. One, Iraq is a mess and know one within the Bush administration seems to have an answer other then " stay the course". Two, our national boarders remain dangerously open to terrorist and millions of illegal immigrants. Three, the economy that Mr Bush likes to talk about is in serious trouble. To citicize the Democrats for raising taxes while borrowing and spending massive amounts of money at the expense of our childrens future is not what I would call sound economics. Four, the veterans administration is in need of serious repair. It lacks the resources to provide quality care and those resources aren't being provided. Just talk to a veteran, or visit your local VA.
That's the record, and it wont change as long as those that call themselves conservative fail to take on the real issue's before americans.
Finding fault with Kerry is not going to solve any of the pressing issue's before us because he's not the root cause. The cause is a runaway congress...the whole body not just democrats that has in my veiw sold it's sole, relinquished it's reponsibility, and failed the american citizen. May be we should redirect our attention
to what's really ailing this country, rather then attack peoples war records.

It matters. It matters because he is saying one thing, and those who served with him have said another. So, it matters because we can't further decipher the truth without his military records.
It matters. It matters simply because he promised to provide his records for everyone's eyes. So, his credibility is on the line, a matter of honor for most men.

It's a lot more important than "he said, he said."
Here's why it matters: There's at least a possibility that Kerry received an other-than-honorable discharge, later whitewashed by Jimmy Carter's (Worst. President. And. One. Of. The. Worst. Americans. Ever.) SecNav.
A full review of the papers covered by Form 180 would answer that question, as well as this even more important question: Was Kerry still a member of the Naval Reserve when he met with representatives of North Vietnam in Paris?
If he was still in the Reserve (he claims he was not), there is but one fitting word for John Forbes Kerry:
Traitor.

Thanks for that Oldsmoblogger. I tried to avoid getting into the possible outcomes and find a general way to state the obvious - it matters. The reasons you cite are important matters, and there are so many other unanswered questions about his service (Cambodia, the killing of the Vietnamese man, why his discharge took so long and did he really fulfill his obligation - I realize some of those lap over the ones you listed) but the point is that until we see the records, as promised, the questions remain.
