There are wolves in the fields, and we have neglected the fences

"History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce." - Karl Marx

The recent protests over immigration seem to me very sad and hopelessly misguided... and further proof that we are engaged in a war with not just one front, but two. The first being the front against the Islamo-fasists hell bent on supplanting western civilizations with 13th century caliphates, and the second front being against immigrants from third-world countries who want to fashion the culture of this country into a copy of the one they came from.

Do not get me wrong. There is absolutely no equating these two groups of people other than the fact that they both desire to achieve our level of success and prosperity. In both these cases, the people in these groups see America and western culture from the outside, like a child ogling the goodies from outside a candy store, and they have learned to hate and envy that which they either perceive or are duped into believing we are keeping from them - wealth, health, freedom from hunger, freedom from fear and worry. They desperately want freedom from all the things in their own lives which they despise and feel helpless to change. They envy us and want a piece of our pie. They want the success and prosperity like we have, and believe the only way to get it is to take it from us.

And that is precisely what is so sad and misguided. Both of these groups are attempting to achieve that success and prosperity by trying to force us - The United States of America - to bend to their will. And therein lies a great irony: should these totally different groups actually achieve the ends they are espousing, the majority of the people in either group would soon despise the very thing their hands had wrought. While no one can blame people for wanting a better life, these masses have been blinded by their passions and desire to achieve the American dream, and the possibility that they could actually achieve that dream. That blindness only makes it that much easier for them to be manipulated by their despotic leaders and charlatans who whisper in their ear that they can have all the success and prosperity we enjoy if they would just join the fight to defeat our culture and steal our prosperity pie.

The leaders of these groups would relish the defeat of America and the western culture because those few in leadership positions would be the only ones actually enjoying the spoils of such a victory - enjoying a nice meal of roasted Golden Goose, as it were. The rest of the people, the masses, the soldiers who would actually do the fighting and dying (physically, culturally, and emotionally) in such a conflict, they go to war to win the gold that goose produces, not to kill it. But what these useful idiots do not understand (but the whispering usurpers understand all too well) is that what makes America work is that it is America - the distinct American culture, American ingenuity, American productivity, American individualism, American entrepreneurism - the thousands of things that makes America what it is. What makes the American dream desirable is not that it is a dream, but that it is American.

If a caliphate could achieve what America has, it would have done so by now. And if Mexico, Guatemala, Columbia, or the Dominican Republic are so much better than America, then why come here? If, as is the case most times, they are so bad as to compel tens of thousand every year to risk everything by emigrating to America "for a better life", then why would anyone want to bring with them the cultural mind set that created the horrible conditions that compelled them to leave in the first place? What do these people think will happen if they reshape California or Arizona into an extension of Mexico, or impose Sharia Islamic law in Michigan or Ohio? Those places will cease to be America, and cease to possess those qualities that created the desire and envy in the first place. Sort of like the kid outside the candy store burning the building down because he didn't have enough money to buy any. He has gained nothing, and will probably just move on to the next candy store, still with no money in his pocket.

There is absolutely nothing wrong - and actually several things very right - with being proud of your heritage and ancestry, as I am proud of my Irish and German ancestry. But people should be coming to this country to get a piece of the American dream, not to bring the Mexican, Dominican, or Somalian nightmare to America. If you want a Mexico, Dominican Republic, Iraq, Libia, Sudan, or Somalia (etc.) that is prosperous and successful, then do not bring a failed method here. Live here for a while, learn our successful methods, and take them back to your homeland. Learn the recipe for the prosperity pie and make it yourself - in your own country, instead of stealing from someone else.

The majority of Americans (I cannot speak for other western cultures) understand and empathize with the desire of these peoples to achieve at least some of the success and prosperity we enjoy. After all, this country was born from such a desire. The difference lies in how we Americans choose to view the issue. Many believe that to be a thoughtful and progressive minded person they should empathize with the immigrant and the terrorist and strive to change our culture to ameliorate those groups in one way or another. Others believe it is the immigrant and the terrorist who must change. One of these methods has proven to work to increase the prosperity of these disparate groups, and the other will, I fear, prove the downfall of this country.

We call them as Islamists and Latinos, but the Romans knew them as Huns and Vandals, and when those barbarian tribes succeeded in conquering the object of their envy, all they actually achieved was the fall of a progressive and enlightened society and the start of a period in history commonly called The Dark Ages.

There is a 3rd Front as well, though perhaps we should label them as the 2nd Front and their product, the illegals, as Front 2A. The Front I speak of is the domestic contingent of selfish people who enable the illegals. There are the selfish employers who want only cheap labor, and they are the radical elements who only want to promote their socialist/anarchist agendas and see this issue as a realisation of their goals and a thorn in the side of their enemies (us); combined they are an anti-American Front promoting the idea that illegals should be here and have rights. A seriously flawed coalition. Very un-Patriotic, from an American perspective.

Let's not forget everyone's favorite Fifth Column, the (un)Democratic Party. You gotta throw them somewhere in there too, Rick.

But, Chris I already mentioned those with "socialist/anarchist agendas". :)

Today's Democratic Party is no longer a parent group, they have become a sub-set of the larger radical liberal cause, that is probably why I did not feel the need to actually mention them by name.
