The trouble with Islam
Wow! The liberal left could really learn something from this guy. THIS is what "Speaking Truth to Power" is all about! This guy is actually putting himself in jeopardy saying these things. But that is what always happens when you tell the truth about those that truly have power - you run the risk of having them use that power to squash and silence you. The only risk ever experienced by the liberal elites who claim to be "Speaking Truth to Power" is that of getting a splinter from carrying a sign or blisters from marching too long.
Liberals are cowards. They want to run from a war they were all too happy to help get started, and could never even imagine saying the things this guy does for fear of angering Muslims... and thereby endangering themselves. Two quotes often come to mind when I think of the cowardice and perfidy of the left:

The guy is funny here, but he's a militant atheist who has a number of videos on YouTube. When he refers to "beliefs often lifted wholesale from the ramblings of some ancient desert nomad with a psychological disorder", he's not just talking about Mohammed. He's also referring to Jesus.
And though he's politically incorrect, as I recall he's also a political liberal. If true, it pretty much ruins the whole point of your post.
I wouldn't go too far in deriving new conclusions from the potentially unrelated commentary of people you don't know.

The problem with Islam is that it's not so much a religion as a plan for conquest, and thus, a cult.
Mohammed was a warlord and it was reportedly one of his wives who came up withe the idea of codifying a system in which to keep conquered peoples , well conquered. She rightly saw what Mohammed did, that a military conquest only lasts as long as your able to occupy that area, while a "religion" can transform those conquered peoples into followers and adherants.
A "moderate" Mullah in Iran is now on trial for shaking hands with women. Sharia Law dictates that adulterers and homosexuals be stoned to death.
The problem the entire West has had in the War on Terror (WoT) is that its failed to properly define the enemy. It's not "fundamentalist Islam," since Islam has never had a Reformation, today's Islam IS "fundamentalist Islam. It's not even "radicalized Islam" as the so-called "radicals" are merely adhering to strict Sharia Law.
No, our enemy in this WoT is ALL adherants to strict Sharia-based Islam and the war won't be won, until Sharia is done, at least DONE as political influence.
