I hate to say it, but the problem with that piece is it's perfectly logical - and sometimes the electorate devolves into a mob that does some very irrational things.

Republicans won't be able to look themselves in the mirror the morning after they nominate Rudy, but they may very well do just that. I can't imagine America choking down the bile to elect that shrill banshee, but they could see Thompson as laconic. Lord knows I thought they were too smart to fall for the snake oil sold by her slick lawyer husband, but they did - twice.
