Judicial Activism Anyone?
I'm sure you saw this article from the AP today, but did any one else NOT gloss over the line "California's Supreme Court to postpone putting its decision legalizing gay marriage into effect"? How is this NOT blatant judicial activism? That being said, I must admit I'm entirely against gay 'marriage'. It is an abomination and a travesty. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

This is venue-shopping at the appellate level. The 9th Circus will be involved, as will be an estimated two to three new Supreme Court justices expected to be appointed during the next few years.
Don't expect a groundswell from the GOP hierarchy over this. They're still too busy trying to figure out where they lost all their supporters (after losing sight of the Reagan Revolution that brought them to power).

It's not the usual Circus, it's the CA Supremes - though it's still not as bad as it sounds. From what I've heard, the peons down in the gutter (i.e. the People) still have a chance to amend the CA Constitution to tell them where to stick it before their Almighty Wisdom goes into effect.

I agree that it is judicial activism, but why are you against it? What's the big deal? This hsouldn't even be a government decision. People can do what they want. They don't bother you.

Alexandra, don't go out of your way to be ignorant. Almost no one is arguing that the government has no interest in regularizing martial privilege. We and the homosexual activists just disagree over who should be getting the privilege and who gets to decide the question.
If we were to argue your point, you'd have to squeeze your tiny brain into the question of what to do with any law that mentions marriage, children, families, and dependents (among a hundred other concepts that touch on the idea). Imagine how many lawyers it would take to rewrite all these laws to include consideration for all the different ways we're going to allow private contracts between people to mimic all the authority, privilege, and responsibility summed up in the word "marriage".
You're attempting to sound "open-minded" and libertarian, but in the end you just prove you're a moron.
